11 Days - GOURMET VIETNAM

Vietnam is a gourmet paradise well known for its fabulous, exotic cuisine that differs between the Southern, Central and Northern regions of the country. Experience a Vietnam culinary tour that incoporates cultural highlights, cooking classes and dining in gourmet restaurants along the way. From lessons in a local Saigon home, to classes in a beautiful villa set in lush tropical surrounds, this Vietnam culinary tour will be a gastronomic delight for the senses! Get the taste of Vietnam with such dishes as a steaming bowl of chicken 'pho' with fresh herbs (noodle soup) for breakfast, bbq pork 'bun cha' with crab springrolls at lunch, and a supurb French 'Indochine' degustation menu for dinner...oh the list goes on!

Highlights include: A culinary tour providing lessons on how to cook Vietnamese food and dining experiences in specially selected restaurants; Cruising in the Mekong Delta and dining at a superb colonial style indochina restaurant; Exploring the cities of HCMC, Hoi An, Hue and Hanoi and sampling local food in each city; Cruising through the islands of Halong Bay
 

Day 01: Arrival Ho Chi Minh City
Arrive into HCMC. Optional city tour or half day visit to the historic Cu Chi Tunnels from the Vietnamese War. Overnight at Caravelle Saigon

Day 02: Ho Chi Minh City (B,L)
Experience a truly authentic cooking class experience with a local family who take you on a tour of local produce markets to shop for ingredients for your dinner. Return to their home where they will show you the secrets to home style Vietnamese cooking. Afterwards sit down with the family and enjoy the fruits of your efforts!

Day 03: Mekong Delta (B,L)
Relax on a day trip floating down the Mekong River. Cruise on a traditional sampan where you will have a leisurely gourmet lunch at a superb Indochine restaurant specialising in local delicacies such as ‘Elephant Ear’ fish.

Day 04: Ho Chi Minh City - Hoi An (B)
Fly to Danang and drive to the quaint fishing village of Hoi An. Go on a walking tour of this beautiful town, its fascinating architecture, gourmet restaurants and abundance of tailor shops.

Day 05: Hoi An (B,L)
This morning take a tour of the markets before cruising downriver to a villa set in lush tropical surrounds, where you will enjoy a fun cooking class. Relax with a glass of wine whilst savouring the wonderful food you have cooked for lunch! Spend the afternoon lazing on the beach or exploring town.

Day 06: Hoi An – Hue (B,L,D)
Drive to Hue and spend the afternoon on a guided tour of this historic, imperial city. Explore the Citadel and catch a boat down the Perfume River to visit ancient temples & pagodas. This evening you will have the opportunity to chat with one of Hue’s best chefs who will explain the history of Hue’s cuisine and traditions of the royal feasts, followed by a fabulous authentic Hue dinner fit for an emperor.

Day 07: Hue – Hanoi (B,D)
Fly to Hanoi and check into your hotel. In the evening enjoy a traditional Water Puppet theatre show and dinner in one of the oldest restaurants in Hanoi, specializing in the famous fish dish, ‘Cha Ca’.

Day 08: Hanoi (B,L,D).
This is your last day to perfect your skills with one final Vietnamese cooking class. In the evening dine at a well known Hanoi restaurant, acting as a hospitality training restaurant for underprivileged street kids. Offering a mix of Vietnamese and Western fusion you will be truly impressed with the gourmet cuisine and enthusiastic service of the staff.

Day 09: Hanoi - Halong Bay (B, L,D)
In the morning you will enjoy a shared transfer (private available on request) from your hotel in Hanoi to Halong City, the drive takes about 3 hours but you will stop off for a refreshment break en route. Meet the crew at the dock and cruise to the famous islands of Ha Long Bay and onto Bai Tu Long Bay, aside from the cave visit and swimming, there is a chance to explore this stunning area by sea kayak. Return back to the junk for a scrumptious dinner

Day 10: Halong Bay – Hanoi (B,L)
Enjoy fresh air & gentle breeze of the bay in morning. Cruise through Bai Tu Long, a visit to the floating fishing village of Vong Vieng - learn about daily life here. Cruise back to the dock arriving in Ha Long around noon then transfer back to Hanoi, arriving at your hotel at about 4pm.

Day 11: Hanoi (B)
Transfer to airport for your onwards flight. End of our service
