07 Days - Hagiang Discovery

The Northeast hilly areas of Ha Giang offer breathtaking views & interesting subcultures.The region 's famed for magnificent limestone pinnacles, ancient houses with their base floor of stone, walls made from clay and ying-yang roof tiles. At the altitude of 1,600 metres above the sea level, by the Chinese border in the Northwest, Sapa's been known since the beginning of the century with the very unique beauty of its own.

Day 01: Hanoi – Hagiang ( Lunch and Dinner included )
With your guide and driver, depart Hanoi for the 7-hour drive to Ha Giang. As you leave the Red River Delta the scenery will start to change as you enter the mountains of Northern Vietnam. You will arrive in Tuyen Quang around noon and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. After your meal, continue the drive to Ha Giang which is the northernmost province in Vietnam, consisting of breathtaking scenery, a colorful array of hill tribes and vibrant local markets (these rotate on a daily basis). As this is a remote area, accommodation and facilities are of basic level however we’ll make sure your journey is as comfortable as possible. On arrival in Ha Giang check into hotel to refresh then take an afternoon walk to a Tay Hill Tribe village, beautifully set in a stunning valley close to town. Return to your hotel for an evening free at leisure. Overnight in Ha Giang.

Day 02: Hagiang city – Meo Vac (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Today you will take a fantastic 6-hour drive to the town of Meo Vac, located along the Chinese border. The journey will take you past many villages, inhabited by different colorful hill tribe groups. This area, like most of Ha Giang, is inhabited by the H’Mong hill tribe. The H’mong group is believed to have migrated from southern China into Vietnam only over the last 300 years and today they live in villages throughout the north of the country. We will have several stops on the way for visit tribal villages and photo opportunities such as Quan Ba Pass; Quan Ba Heaven Gate... At midday, you will have a break for lunch in a local restaurant in Yen Minh town before continuing the scenic drive to Meo Vac. The karst landscape in the afternoon will definitely amazes you. Arrive at the town, check into a hotel. The remainder of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Meo Vac. 

DAY 03: Meo Vac – Dong Van (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Begin this morning with a visit to the fabulous Meo Vac Market, where vendors come from the surroundings. At the market, they buy and sell fresh produce as well as dry goods (on Sunday the market is particularly busy as it is a weekly market for the surrounding villages). Then we set off for Dong Van, along another beautiful stretch of road. The trip passes through Ma Pi Leng, which is also known as ‘Heaven’s Gate Pass’ as it gives the feeling of touching the sky. The drive skirts the Chinese border through a deep valley. Have a stop at the best corner for some taking photographs and admire the august scenery. Arrive at Dong Van around lunchtime and check into a hotel. In the afternoon, take an easy hike along the road of the Old Quarter and hike further to see the rice field from a small path which goes along the mountains. Get picked up by the car if necessary. Dinner and overnight in Dong Van.

DAY 04: Dong Van – Lung Cu – Quan Ba (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Following breakfast, you leave Dong Van for a spectacular drive to Lung Cu flag tower, the northernmost point of Vietnam. Climb to the top of the tower for a panorama view over the area which is very near Chinese border. Thence, we take a walk to visit a village of the Lo Lo hill tribe to learn about their unique culture and customs (there is a weekly market here held on Fridays). From Lung Cu we continue on driving to the Palace of the last H’Mong King which is located in Saphin Village. After visiting the palace and lunch, we drive onwards to Pho Bang Town where old style Chinese influenced houses can be seen. These traditional houses are made from clay houses and feature distinctive ‘yin and yang’ tile roofs. Take a short walk around narrow streets of this charming town before heading for Tam Son. Check into a hotel on arrival. Overnight in Quan Ba.

DAY 05: Yen Minh – Thong Nguyen Village (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
After the morning drive back to Ha Giang City on the same road, you can see the difference of the topography in Hoang Su Phi area compared with the places you have visited in Meo Vac & Dong Van. It is good with the change and the different beauties that Ha Giang has to offer and it enriches our adventure. Upon arrival at Pan Hou eco-lodge, check in and overnight at the lodge.

DAY 06: Thong Nguyen Trek (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner included)
Spend the whole day for trekking to visit the hill tribe villages of Tay, Black Dao and Red Dao people. Along the hike you will have a chance to view how marvelous the rice terraces are. Back to the lodge around 4:00 PM. The rest of the day is at leisure or enjoy the optional traditional treatments (massage and herbal bat). Spend the second night in the lodge.

DAY 07: Thong Nguyen - Hanoi (Breakfast, Lunch included)
After the breakfast at the lodge, we start our journey back to Hanoi. Have lunch on the way. Arrive in Hanoi late in the afternoon and get dropped off at your own arranged hotel.

Of course, hiking is our main activity and we can propose and arrange with local guides and porteurs from 1 day walking excursion to 10 days trekking with nights in ethnic minority houses (Tay, Nung, long skirt Yaos, Man Ta Pan). Pan Hou village is an ecotourism hotel equipped with solar energy hot water system and fans. 30 rooms in traditional styled on stilts houses with bathrooms. One large lounge with bar. One restaurant where we serve vietnamese and international meals. At the balneo house Man Ta Pan and Tay people prepare herbal baths in their traditional fragrant wood tub. For your relaxation after the effort during your trek, to resolve a stress, articular or rheumatic pains, or simply for comfort and pleasure.
